Halfway through the Year, 2012 Chevy Sonic is Rookie-of-the-Year and MVP in Subcompact Class
Sometimes it can be difficult for new players to make an impact, but the great ones always manage to showcase their abilities. Perhaps taking its cues from young phenoms like Bryce Harper and Mike Trout, the 2012 Chevy Sonic has posted impressive numbers during its initial trip through the big leagues.
To date, dealers have sold 42,240 units of the Chevy Sonic. That number is the highest for any automotive newcomer this year, besting the closest competitor by over 23,000 cars. The 2012 Chevy Sonic is an entirely new model, called up to the majors to replace the Aveo. Monthly Sonic sales approached figures as high as 8,000 units.
In addition to dominating other new entrants, the new Sonic is also triumphing over wily veterans. Its first-half sales of 42,240 make it the best-selling subcompact car. It also has the distinction of being the first car of this segment to be built in the United States by one of the Detroit manufacturers.
